Working with the NB Heart Centre, the New Brunswick Aorta Centre provides treatment, surgical services, and consultation for patients across NB and Atlantic Canada.
The NB Heart Centre in conjunction with the NBCAD provides state of the art diagnosis, management and surveillance of aortic disease. With an active Aortic Disease Clinic, we are dedicated to providing the best possible care for all patients with aortic disease, including those with connective tissue disorders such as Marfan syndrome.
There are many patients in the province with thoracic aortic disease consisting of multiple pathologies including aneurysms for which care and follow-up has traditionally been inconsistent and non-standardized.
The multidisciplinary Aortic Disease Clinic at the NBHC (Headquartered at the Saint John Regional Hospital) serves to consolidate the care and surveillance of these patients with the assistance of the primary care physician and referring specialist.
Dr. Zlatko Pozeg joined the New Brunswick Heart Centre in 2017. Practicing in and evolving the field of Aortic Surgery for many years, Dr. Pozeg was an ideal fit for Director. Dr. Pozeg has a special interest in aortic dissection and aortic root surgery; as well as an interest in patients with connective tissue disease whom have a proclivity towards aortic disease, such as Marfan’s Syndrome.
Dr. Pozeg has a keen interest in the endovascular management of all aortic disease from the aortic root to the aortic bifurcation, particular aortic dissection; and he believes in the future of total endovascular aortic reconstruction.
